A neat paper calculator to convert resistor color codes to ohms
The Resistor Value Calculator is a handy, pocket-sized tool for translating resistor color codes into the resistor's value. Hit the read more link to learn how to put it together;
Collect the materials
You'll need the Resistor Value Calculator paper (download Cut out the parts
Cut out the four parts with your scissors; a rectangular holder and three value wheels.
Cut out are six windows on the holder, these will display the resistor value and color. Make a single cut along each of the six slits on the holder, these will be used to hold the fasteners. Cut an 'X' at the center of each of the wheels, too. Put it together
Folder the holder, hot-dog style along the solid line.
Insert the fasteners through each of the slits, half-way through the holder. Slide a wheel onto each fastener.
The wheels with the numbers 0-9 go on the left, the wheel that only has 0's goes on the right so it shows through the larger window. Finish the sandwich by sliding the other side of the holder on to the fasteners.
Finish up by spreading the fastener pins apart. All done!Using the Resistor Reference card is pretty simple - just match up the colors on the resistor with the colors on the card by spinning the wheel. The value of the resistor will appear in the window. Enjoy! Inspired by 'Make a Resistor Reference Card' from instructables. Comments (0)
