If you've picked up the RTC add-on for the Propeller Platform SD, here's how you add it
1 - Confirm that you've got the components. 2 - While youre soldering iron is warming up, remove the Propeller Crystal.
3 - Begin by adding a bit of solder to the 1st pad where the RTC goes
4 - Hold the RTC with a pair of tweezers on top of the pads where you want it to go. Note that the circular 'dent' on top of one corner of the RTC marks the 1st pin. The 1st pin goes on the bottom left. Re-heat the solder you just dropped there and let the first pin melt to the solder.
6 - Once it has been tacked in place, use a bit of solder to connect the remaining pins. Take your time, if you bridge 2 pins, just use some solder wick to remove the excess solder.
7 - Add the Super Cap. It's polarized. Note that one leg of the cap has a small - (minus) sign. The body also has a repeating arrow on it.
I've inserted it sideways to show you how it goes in. The leg marked with a minus goes in the circular hole. The unmarked leg goes through the square hole
The lead coming out this end will go through the square hole on the board where it's marked 'D1'.
9 - Add the watch crystal. It doesn't matter which lead goes in which hole. Leave a little extra wire so you can fold the crytal flat against the board.
That's it! Now, just put the Propeller crystal back in its holder and you're done!
