UsbThumbImu is an USB Accelerometer sensor (gyro is optional). It is automatically detected by any modern computer (Windows/MacOS/Linux) as a standard HID USB gamepad without the need of any special drivers. It can be used for gaming or scientific applications.

UsbThumbImu is hardware compatible and runs same firmware as USB Motion Gamepad.It uses smaller SMT components for a more compact design. Up to 8 external buttons can be attached, mounting holes are provided for enclosure fitting.

UsbThumbImu consists of two stacked modules: UsbThumb and Acc_Gyro.

From the computer you can interface UsbThumbImu as a any other HID device , the packet includes raw readings from sensors as well as fused/filtered data. Here is some sample C++ code.

Please note that this unit comes with accelerometer only so it is 3DOF only , if you need 5DOF or 6DOF buy acc_gyro (5dof) or acc_gyro_6dof and UsbThumb separately.

Note: UsbThumbImu comes pre-assembled, you just need to solder on the included pin sockets / headers and the USB Jack.

UsbThumbImu uses the LIS331AL (datasheet) - a 3-axis 2G accelerometer.
