Description

The PSM is a Propeller based TFT LCD display module.

Features:
* QVGA 2.4" TFT LCD with 320x240xRGB resolution and backlight
* Propeller Microcontroller running at 80 MHz with 8 independent cores (cogs)
* USB and logic level serial interfaces for control and/or programming
* 3-axis accelerometer to detect device orientation
* Stereo headphone output
* Full size SD card memory expansion slot
* One uncommitted pushbutton
* Eight uncommitted I/O pins
* I2C expansion port
* One uncommitted 8-bit ADC input
* One uncommitted 8-bit DAC output

Electrical:
* Powered by USB, 3-pin header, or standard 5.1 mm barrel connector
* Header ports provided for ADC, DAC, I/O pins, power, and RS232

Physical:
* Circuit board is 3.8"x2.5"
* The 4 mounting holes provided are spaced 3"x2" apart.

Modes of Operation:
The PSM is preprogrammed with the Propeller Graphics Demo but it can be custom programmed using Parallax's free development tools. If you program it with serial control, the display will offer several modes of operation:

Serial command mode accepts commands and data to show text or graphics in any color at any location on the screen. This is the normal mode of operation when being controlled via the RS232 interface.

Two sizes of fonts are be available. High-color photos can be displayed in this mode either over the serial interface or from the SD card.

In Propeller TV/VGA compatibility mode the screen is represented by a 20x15 array of tiles in the same way the Parallax's standard TV/VGA drivers operate. This allows the developer to use the existing code base with only minor changes. This also allows double-buffering for fast, full-screen updates. Also, the standard "Graphics" driver can be utilized in this mode. Concurrent LCD and TV/VGA display are possible in this mode.

These two modes can be combined in many ways depending on the particular usage required. The programming tools are provided by Parallax (only a USB cable is required). Source code for the modes of operation listed above is provided at no extra cost.

Expansion:
* The PSM can be expanded using the 8 uncommitted I/O pins, the RS232 interface, and the I2C bus.
* The PSM BCKVM Accessory board (sold separately) attaches to the PSM to form a complete, stand-alone, system.
* Custom accessory boards for the PSM are easily created using the ExpressPCB.com header layout provided. This allows fast prototyping at low cost.
Make It!

This development tool comes pre-assembled. The PSM features onboard USB for programming the Propeller.
